With over 20 years of experience in planning law across New South Wales, England and Wales, we specialise in handling a range of commercial and residential developments.

  • Navigating the planning process, including in the Land and Environment Court of NSW, to obtain consent.

  • Reviewing development applications in order to avoid or mitigate legal and merit issues.

  • Negotiating planning conditions and obligations as well as associated agreements.

  • Assisting with scheme delivery, often requiring amendments to consents, as well as financing and property disposal.

Sydney Metro

Acting for several former owners of CBD commercial property, which was compulsorily acquired to make way for Sydney Metro, in their compensation appeals before the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales.

Various Sydney commercial & residential developers

Providing strategic advice in relation to a range of sophisticated and large scale development proposals and running their appeals in the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales, as well as negotiating planning conditions and obligations.

EcoWorld, London

Reviewing the planning application documents and advising on planning issues arising from the redevelopment of Griffin Park, the former home ground of Brentford Football Club, to provide mixed new housing and a community park which will be open to the public.

Stratford City

Advising Lendlease and London and Continental Railways on all aspects of securing planning permissions and negotiating highways agreements to provide the International Quarter, London. Many of the applications for these permissions were considered by the London Legacy Development Corporation’s Quality Review Panel. My work also encompassed all planning advice regarding financing, delivery and disposal of components of the site.

A high net worth individual

Obtained development consent for a high- specification residence in Northbridge. We negotiated with the council and settled the Land and Environment Court appeal prior to Court- supervised conciliation. This was a great result for the client, minimising both time and money in the appeal process.

A Sydney Hotelier

Advising on planning irregularities and solutions in the context of a sale of a regional NSW hotel to an overseas sovereign wealth fund.

A Sydney School

Advising on obtaining development consent for proposed enhancements to sports facilities on campus. 

A Retirement Living Developer

Advising on appropriate planning pathways to obtain development consent for a large scale health and wellbeing precinct in regional NSW.
